With Commonplace, Ying Gao reflects furthermore on the fast-fashion phenomenon. The project explores anew the idea that it is possible to own less clothing if they are better designed. Commonplace is actually a single multiform dress that can be worn each day for a week. It can adjust, transform, evolve and change with every day that comes – a complete wardrobe in itself. With this dress, the designer explores the concept of change – in keeping with a continuity belonging to the slow wear fashion movement.
